When Michael returned early from a business trip, he anticipated a joyful family reunion but was met with an unsettling silence in his home. His wife, Emma, and their two children, Liam and Sophie, were nowhere to be found. As he searched the empty house, a growing sense of dread took hold of him.
Eventually, he heard muffled cries coming from the cellar. Rushing to the door, he found Emma locked inside, her face pale and eyes wide with fear. She revealed that Michael’s mother had come over, suggesting a game of hide-and-seek, during which Emma ended up trapped when the door was locked behind her. Confused and alarmed, Michael’s immediate concern shifted to finding their children.
After freeing Emma, they drove to Michael’s mother’s house, the tension palpable between them. Emma recounted her ordeal, believing it was punishment for refusing to let the kids stay with Michael’s mother. Michael struggled to process the idea that his mother could have done something so cruel.

The revelation stunned everyone.

Emma expressed her relief but also her anger over the situation. They all recognized that clearer lines were needed to avoid putting the children in the middle.
