Jennifer was horrified to see how ill and little these kittens were when she first met them. The tiny kittens, who were about 5 weeks old and weighed 5 pounds, were about the size of a 1-week-old. Skin and bones were all that remained of them.
According to Jennifer, they were the most emaciated kittens that she had seen. They needed to be cared above and beyond what a normal foster parent may be able to provide. These poor kittens were so weak that she was afraid they wouldn’t make it through the night.
That first night, she didn’t sleep much. She checked on the kittens and watched them all the time to make sure they were breathing. They were very lethargic and was not really responding.
Amazingly, though, the kittens began to improve after a few days. When Jennifer’s voice was heard, their heads would bob up. That was definitely a turnaround. As she saw the kittens’ little improvements, Jennifer had hope that they would survive. Her efforts ultimately paid off, too.
At this point, the kittens are roughly 4 months old and have grown into lovely, sturdy cats. Forest enjoys going on outside adventures, but Beverly has a hug phobia around his mother. The little Lincoln only wants to sit on his mother’s knee and be cuddled.
